Welcome to Wider Europe!
We are an international and inter-disciplinary network of academics and practitioners with an interest in the European Union’s external policy and its impact on the EU’s European neighbourhood.
The network provides a forum for debate on policy-relevant issues by publishing reports and academic papers, and by organising seminars and conferences. Members of the network also offer informed and independent advice to governments and international organisations engaged in shaping EU relations with its European neighbours.'
Conference: "The EU and its Neighbourhoods", was held in Paris on 2 december 2011. The event was organised together with the Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Internationales (CERI) and the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies (SIEPS), with the support of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. Some of the conference papers are available here.
Seminar: "The Creeping Nationalisation of EU Enlargement Policy", on the future of the EU enlargement policy, was held in Brussels on 21 March 2011. The event was organised by the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies.
